The story continues with the arrival of Phoebe's war hero husband Donald, bringing serious consequences for Gary. In his present day life Yvonne is putting him under pressure to give up his memorabilia shop and get a proper job.
Following Donald's arrival, Gary & Phoebe are devastated at the prospect of having to part. As Gary prepares to give up Phoebe forever circumstances change and a path becomes clear for him to continue his double life.
Whilst wartime London becomes overrun with American GIs, life for Gary is about to change dramatically in both the present day and the 1940s.
